Constitution Awareness Program

A Social Legal Protection Program was organized by the Indian Centre for Integrated Development (ICID) at Nirmal Jyothi Centre, Vishwas Nagar, Gittikhadan, Nagpur to create awareness among women about their legal rights, constitutional provisions, and protection laws. A total of 57 women actively participated in the program.
The program began with an introductory session by Fr. Adv. Praveen Monteiro, who explained the importance of legal awareness for women. He emphasized that every woman should know her legal rights, understand laws related to children, and be aware of family laws to protect herself and her family.
The main session was conducted by Adv. Sameeksha, who highlighted the importance of education in empowering women. She explained the Fundamental Rights and Fundamental Duties of Indian citizens, and the values of the Constitution of India. Referring to Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, she emphasized that all citizens are equal regardless of caste, religion, or community.
The session also covered the fundamental rights of women, the Right to Education for children up to 14 years of age, and awareness about Cyber Crimes, encouraging participants to report online fraud through the Cyber Crime Helpline (1930). Information was also provided on sexual harassment, the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, divorce-related legal provisions, the POCSO Act, 2012, and the growing issue of Digital Arrest scams. Participants were encouraged to seek legal support whenever needed and to stand against violence and discrimination.
The women actively participated in the interactive discussion by asking questions and sharing their experiences. The session helped them gain practical knowledge about their legal rights and the services available for their protection.
Overall, the Social Legal Protection Program successfully enhanced awareness among women regarding legal rights, constitutional values, child protection laws, cyber safety, and women’s protection laws. The program empowered the participants with knowledge, confidence, and awareness to safeguard themselves, support their families, and contribute to a more informed and responsible society.
